[Naturalist] skunk cabbage

Here is a picture of skunk cabbage (so i believe) that I saw at the
Portland Audubon.  What I found interesting about it was that it was
practically growing in the water.  I have always thought that it grows on
dry land?  Is it common for it to grow in water?
