Re: Sales hotels (rates listed don't include the 10% hotel tax in Salem)

 

My favorite is the Residence Inn (Marriott), on Hawthorne. Ask for the
Willamette special rate which typically varies between $99 and $119 and
is about the same as their AAA or AARP rate. Very clean. Very friendly
staff. Full kitchens if you're so inclined. Complimentary hot breakfast
(yummy!). Complimentary Internet access. Some rooms have a gas
fireplace.

 

Others:

*       Best Western Mill Creek Inn (on Hawthorne, across from Costco):
Older but comfortable and clean. Special rates can be found on line,
around $80+ per night. Voucher for limited complimentary breakfast at
Denny's, next door. Complimentary Internet access.

*       Phoenix Inn Suites South (on Commercial): Older, but comfortable
and clean. Special rates on line, or through the airlines. Complimentary
breakfast and Internet access. The last time I stayed there it was about
$85 per night; my room smelled 'stale' when I first checked in, but
cleared up quickly with an open window.

*       Comfort Suites (on Hawthorne): Not too crazy about it, thought
it was overpriced. On line prepaid rate was about $85 per night.
